I’m a Brit who spent 15 years designing lighting for and operating big gigs, events and festivals in London and Europe, in all sorts of venues and locations. From these intense experiences I got a strong sense of architectural and aesthetic impact, of how people use spaces, and how lighting influences this. And of working in pressure situations for a vast range of clients.
Then I married the gorgeous kiwi Iz and settled down in NZ in 2007, just in time for all the venues to fall down in the Christchurch quakes. So I set up from my shed as a lighting designer making lights, specialising in LED. Clients include What Now kids TV show, award-winning Roots Restaurant, GapFiller, and many private sales. I also designed and rebuilt our ensuite, spa bathroom and kitchen, honing my practical skills with materials and ergonomics.
2013 saw a return to fulltime study. I started with the Certificate in Design & Arts (Foundations) course at D&A College, then in August 2015 I graduated with the two-year national qualification, Diploma of Interior Design. Among many other things, these studies consolidated my love of and passion for 3D modelling and rendering.
Now I’m bringing all these bits of my life together. I’ll always love lights but it’s not only about them anymore – I’m ready to create the spaces they go in as well!
